MySpec
Terms of Service
Last updated 25 September 2026 · These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
These terms are the agreement between you and MySpec. They set out who may join, how members must behave, what you pay for, and what happens if something goes wrong. Please read them before you create your profile.
1. About these terms
MySpec is a Christian dating platform for adults across Nigeria and the diaspora. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use MySpec.
2. Who can join
To hold a MySpec account you must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be single, divorced or widowed, and not currently married to anyone.
- Be honest about what you are looking for, and about the information on your profile.
- Provide accurate information about yourself, including your real name, age and photos.
- Hold no more than one MySpec account.
Married people, people in existing relationships, and anyone under 18 are not welcome on MySpec and will have their accounts closed.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately through the Support Centre if you believe someone else has access to it. We may ask you to re-verify your identity if we have reason to doubt that an account is being used by the person it belongs to.
4. Identity verification
Every member must complete identity verification before they can send or receive messages. Verification is carried out by our partner Didit against a government-issued identity document and a live selfie.
Using someone else's identity document, a forged document, or a photograph of another person is a serious breach of these terms. It will result in immediate closure of your account, and we may report it to law enforcement.
5. How you must behave on MySpec
You must not:
- Harass, threaten, insult or intimidate another member.
- Ask another member for money, gifts, airtime or cryptocurrency, or promote any investment, business or "money-doubling" scheme.
- Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your age, marital status, occupation or intentions.
- Post nude, sexually explicit or violent images, or send them to other members.
- Use MySpec to advertise, recruit, sell anything or promote a political campaign.
- Create a fake profile, or operate more than one account.
- Collect other members' information, or scrape the platform by automated means.
- Do anything unlawful under Nigerian law, or anything that damages MySpec or other members.
We may remove content, warn you, suspend you, or close your account if you break these rules. Serious cases may be reported to the Nigeria Police Force or the relevant agency.
6. Staying safe
MySpec verifies identity, but no online platform can remove every risk. Please take the same care you would take with anyone you meet for the first time:
- Never send money, airtime, gift cards or cryptocurrency to another member, however convincing their story is.
- Be cautious of anyone who quickly declares strong love, avoids video calls, or asks you to move the conversation to another app.
- Meet for the first time in a public place, during the day, and tell a family member or friend where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Arrange your own transport home, and keep your bank details and PINs private.
- Report anyone who pressures you for money or makes you feel unsafe, using the report option on their profile or in your chat.
7. Subscriptions, payments and refunds
MySpec is free to join. Plus and Premium subscriptions unlock additional features such as unlimited likes, seeing who likes you, direct messages and advanced filters. Prices are shown in Naira (NGN) before you pay and include any applicable taxes.
Payments are processed by Flutterwave, which supports Nigerian cards, bank transfer and USSD. Subscriptions renew automatically for the period you selected unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time from the Billing section of your settings, and you will keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Because a subscription unlocks access immediately, payments are generally non-refundable once the period has begun. This does not affect any refund right you have under Nigerian consumer protection law, and we will always refund a charge you did not authorise or that was taken in error.
8. Your content
Your photos, profile details and messages belong to you. By posting them on MySpec, you give us permission to host, display and deliver them to other members as part of running the service. We do not use your photos in advertising without asking you first.
You must only upload photos of yourself that you have the right to use, and you confirm that doing so does not break anyone else's rights.
9. Suspension and closure of accounts
You may close your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if your identity verification fails or is withdrawn, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe your account is being used to harm other members.
10. What MySpec does not promise
MySpec introduces Christian singles to each other. We cannot and do not promise that you will find a partner, become engaged, or marry. Compatibility suggestions are based on the preferences you tell us about and are guidance, not a guarantee.
We verify identity documents and check that members are aged 18 and above. Verification confirms identity and age only — it is not a promise about anyone's intentions, character, safety or faith. We do not carry out criminal record checks, and we do not investigate members' financial standing, family circumstances or immigration status. You remain responsible for your own decisions about anyone you meet.
11. Our liability to you
MySpec is provided on an "as is" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the conduct of other members, whether online or in person. Where we are found liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Nigerian law.
12. Reporting a member
Every profile and chat has a report option. Reports about fake identities, married users, requests for money, harassment or threats are reviewed by our moderation team, and the highest-risk reports are treated first. You can also block a member so they can no longer contact you or appear in your discovery.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as MySpec develops or as Nigerian law changes. We will post the new version here and tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you continue to use MySpec after that, you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If a dispute arises between us, we will first try to resolve it with you directly through our Support Centre. If that fails, the dispute will be decided by the courts of competent jurisdiction in Nigeria.
15. How to contact us
For anything relating to these terms — including a complaint, an appeal against a suspension, or a question about a payment — please contact us through the Support Centre in the app so your request is logged and tracked.
