MySpec
Child Safety Standards
Our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) on MySpec, and how to report it. Last updated 1 October 2026.
Zero tolerance
MySpec prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation in every form. There is no circumstance in which it is tolerated on this platform. Accounts involved in it are closed permanently and reported to the authorities.
Who may use MySpec
MySpec is a Christian dating service for adults only. Membership is restricted to people aged 18 and above, and no one under 18 may create an account, hold a profile, or be shown to any other member under any circumstances.
Every member must confirm their date of birth during sign-up and must complete identity verification with a government-issued document before they can send messages. The age and identity checks are enforced on our servers, not only in the app, so they cannot be bypassed by a modified client.
A person who misrepresents their age to gain access is removed immediately and blocked from registering again.
What is prohibited
The following are strictly forbidden on MySpec, in profiles, photos, messages and any other content:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including images, video, text, illustrations and links.
- Any sexual content involving a person under 18, real or simulated.
- Grooming, sexualised contact with a minor, or attempting to arrange a meeting with a minor.
- Sextortion, sexual coercion, or threatening to share intimate images.
- Trafficking, exploitation, or the advertisement of a minor for any sexual purpose.
- Sexualised language, requests or roleplay directed at a minor.
- Attempting to move a minor off the platform for sexual purposes.
- Sharing, requesting or facilitating any of the above.
How we enforce these standards
Age gate and verification. Sign-up requires a date of birth, and the 18+ requirement is checked on our servers. Members must pass government-ID identity verification before they can message anyone.
Reporting. Every profile and every conversation carries a report action. Reports of child safety concerns are prioritised above all other moderation work.
Review and removal. Reported content and accounts are reviewed by our moderation team. Content that breaches these standards is removed, and the account responsible is permanently closed.
Blocking. Any member can block another immediately, which ends contact between them at once.
Evidence preservation. When a report concerns child safety, we preserve the relevant records and content so they can be provided to law enforcement, even where the account is closed.
How to report a child safety concern
If you believe a member is involved in child sexual abuse or exploitation, or that a minor is using MySpec, please tell us immediately:
- In the app: open the member's profile or your conversation with them, choose Report, and select the reason that fits. Add any detail that may help us.
- By email: write to our child safety point of contact below. This address is monitored for child safety reports.
Reports can be made whether or not you have an account, and you do not need to be a MySpec member to contact us. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
Reporting to the authorities
We report apparent child sexual abuse material and other child safety offences to the relevant authorities and cooperate fully with their investigations. In Nigeria this includes the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and the Nigeria Police Force. Where the matter involves another jurisdiction, we report to the appropriate national or international body, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
We respond to valid legal requests from law enforcement and preserve account records in accordance with applicable law.
Our legal obligations
These standards are maintained in line with:
- The Child Rights Act 2003 and the Child Rights Laws of the Nigerian states.
- The Cybercrimes Act 2015, as amended.
- The Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act 2015.
- Google Play's Child Safety Standards policy and the Google Play Developer Program Policies.
- Apple's App Review Guidelines, including the requirements for apps in the social and dating categories.
Child safety point of contact
Our designated contact for child safety matters is available to members, the public and law enforcement:
