MySpec
Community Guidelines
Last updated 2 October 2026 · How we keep MySpec respectful, honest and safe
MySpec exists for Christian singles who want real connection. These guidelines explain the behaviour that keeps it that way. They sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. Be who you say you are
- Use your real name, your real age and recent photos of yourself.
- Be truthful about your marital status, children, work and what you are looking for.
- Keep one account only. Complete identity verification before you message anyone.
- Never pose as another person or use someone else's photos or documents.
2. Be honest about what you're looking for
MySpec is for Christian singles aged 18 and above. Whatever you're here for — friendship, dating, a serious relationship or marriage-minded dating — say so on your profile and keep it up to date. It is not a place for misleading people or collecting attention. If your situation has changed, update your preferences or pause your profile from Settings.
3. Treat people with respect
- No harassment, insults, threats, hate speech or pressure. A polite "no thank you" is always acceptable.
- Do not keep messaging someone who has stopped replying or has blocked you.
- Respect every member's background, faith, tribe and family situation.
4. Keep photos and messages appropriate
- No nude, sexually explicit or violent images, and no sexual messages.
- Profile photos must clearly show you — no group shots as your main photo, celebrities or artwork.
- Only share photos and documents in chat that you are comfortable with the other person keeping.
5. No money, no schemes
Never ask a member for, or offer, any of the following:
- Money, airtime, gifts, gift cards or cryptocurrency.
- Investments, business opportunities or "money-doubling" schemes.
- Help with visas, travel costs, customs fees or a parcel being held.
Anyone who asks for money early in a conversation is a warning sign. Please report them straight away. Read more on our Safety Centre.
6. No advertising or recruiting
Do not use MySpec to sell products or services, promote a business, recruit for a group, or campaign for a cause or candidate.
7. Reporting and what happens next
Every profile and chat has a Report option, and you can block any member at any time. Our moderation team reviews reports, treating the most serious first. Depending on what we find, we may remove content, send a warning, restrict or suspend an account, or close it permanently. Serious cases, such as threats, fraud or anything involving a minor, may be reported to the Nigeria Police Force or the relevant authority.
If you think we got a decision wrong, you can appeal through the Support Centre in the app.
